About the Role
You will lead an AI-in-the-loop wet-lab R&D program from experimental design through execution, analysis, and documentation. You will optimize molecular protocols, use frontier AI tools in experimental work, build quality-control feedback loops, benchmark results, maintain lab records, and produce a documented AI-uplift case study.
Requirements
- PhD in molecular biology, microbiology, bioengineering, or a related field, or an MS with equivalent hands-on experience
- Hands-on expertise in viral enrichment, nucleic acid extraction, NGS library preparation, and protocol development
- Experience optimizing and troubleshooting complex molecular protocols
- Experimental design and quantitative data analysis skills
- Fluency using frontier AI tools in scientific work
- Communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to independently own a research program
Responsibilities
- Identify optimization experiments for viral enrichment, depletion, extraction, and sequencing library preparation
- Use frontier AI models to propose protocol modifications, structure experiments, and interpret outputs
- Execute and coordinate wet-lab experiments
- Build QC feedback loops using sequencing reports and protocol metadata
- Benchmark results using reproducible metrics and controls
- Design a logging, labeling, and annotation approach for AI interactions
- Produce a documented case study of AI uplift in wet-lab work
- Maintain electronic lab notebooks and rigorous QA/QC
- Help laboratory colleagues use AI tools effectively
