About the Role
Evaluate business applications for corporate card and bill pay products across EU and US applicants. Analyze financial statements, bank data, bureau information, transaction activity, and other risk signals to make defensible underwriting recommendations. Communicate with customers when more information is needed, manage queues against SLAs, document decisions, and improve underwriting workflows, procedures, policies, tools, and automation.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in underwriting, credit risk management, commercial lending, credit operations, or a related risk role.
- Experience in corporate cards, small business cards, payments, invoices, lending, fintech, banking, or related financial services.
- Strong financial analysis skills involving financial statements, bank data, transaction activity, and business health indicators.
- Clear written and verbal communication for explaining underwriting decisions and requesting customer information.
- Investigative judgment and ability to make defensible decisions with incomplete or conflicting data.
- Ability to operate independently in a fast-moving environment.
- Attention to detail and discipline in documentation, quality, and SLA management.
- AI fluency, including experience building and implementing AI-driven workflows.
- Experience underwriting businesses in European markets or working with EU-based financial services customers.
- Experience building or improving underwriting SOPs, risk playbooks, dashboards, or operational workflows.
Responsibilities
- Review new business applications and make underwriting recommendations for corporate card and bill pay products.
- Analyze financial statements, bank data, bureau information, application details, and risk signals to assess business health and repayment ability.
- Recommend underwriting outcomes including approvals, declines, lower limits, requests for information, or other risk controls.
- Communicate with customers to obtain additional financial information or context.
- Manage an underwriting queue while maintaining decision quality and meeting SLAs.
- Build and improve underwriting documentation, workflows, and operating procedures.
- Partner with Risk Strategy, Product, Engineering, Sales, and Customer Support to improve policies, tools, and customer experience.
- Monitor underwriting outcomes and surface trends, gaps, and emerging risks.
- Use AI and automation to improve speed, consistency, review quality, and operational leverage.
