About the Role
You will develop propulsion systems for sub-orbital VTVL vehicles, from component sizing and design through fabrication and testing. You will build fluid-thermal models, conduct trade studies, create drawings and specifications, execute test plans, manage risks, and present technical results.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
- 6+ years of relevant rocket propulsion system development experience
- Experience with cryogenic propellants
- Experience designing and analyzing high-pressure fluid or pneumatic systems
- Ability to develop conceptual designs, conduct trade studies, and select a design baseline
- Must be a U.S. Person and eligible to obtain required export authorizations
Responsibilities
- Support the design and testing of cryogenic rocket propulsion systems
- Size combustion devices, valves, feed lines, turbomachinery, tanks, and pressurization systems
- Design and analyze injectors, combustion chambers, nozzles, gas generators, and cooling channels
- Build and run propulsion fluid-thermal models
- Perform trade studies for design and operational decisions
- Create hardware drawings and component specifications
- Develop and execute component and system test plans
- Participate in technical readiness and safety reviews
- Perform risk assessments and mitigation planning
- Write and present technical reports
