About the Role
You will design and execute bench-scale experiments to establish process understanding and operating windows. You will assess reaction and thermal hazards, study crystallization and purification, produce engineering data packages, collaborate on scale-up, and support safe laboratory operations.
Requirements
- Master's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or related physical science
- 5+ years of process development, process chemistry, or process scale-up experience
- Design of Experiments proficiency
- Experience developing crystallization and purification or separation processes
- Experience assessing reaction and thermal hazards
- Experience transferring processes from laboratory to pilot or production
- Ability to communicate technical results to chemistry and engineering audiences
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain state and federal explosives licenses
Responsibilities
- Design and execute bench-scale process-characterization experiments
- Apply Design of Experiments to define operating windows, process parameters, and quality attributes
- Assess reaction and thermal hazards for safe scale-up
- Ensure experiments account for mixing, heat transfer, and mass-transfer changes at scale
- Produce documented data packages for engineering transfer
- Design targeted experiments with chemical engineers to address scale-up data gaps
- Support safe laboratory operations, inventory maintenance, and waste minimization
