About the Role
You will serve as the mechanical systems subject-matter expert for greenfield, brownfield, and colocation data centers. You will design and review HVAC, cooling, hydraulic, fire protection, plumbing, and sanitary systems throughout concept design, construction, commissioning, and handover. You will perform engineering calculations and equipment sizing, work with utilities, vendors, authorities, and commissioning teams, and investigate mechanical system issues. You will also maintain design standards and travel to Korean sites for reviews, audits, and startup support.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
- 7–10+ years designing and maintaining data center mechanical systems
- 5+ years in mission-critical facilities
- Knowledge of mission-critical mechanical infrastructure
- Experience with high-density AI or HPC workloads
- Knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, fire protection, plumbing, and sanitary systems
- Experience with supplier relationships and factory acceptance tests
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM
Responsibilities
- Lead coordinated mechanical designs and construction documentation
- Drive mechanical technology innovation and R&D
- Participate in site selection and define utility requirements
- Design mechanical systems for new and existing data centers
- Perform cooling-load and hydraulic calculations and size mechanical equipment
- Select and procure equipment that meets safety and performance requirements
- Specify mechanical equipment with regional vendors and manufacturers
- Ensure compliance with authority, design-code, and jurisdictional requirements
- Review and approve equipment submittals
- Conduct engineering analysis, feasibility studies, and value engineering
- Support commissioning tests and validate mechanical-system performance
- Perform root cause analysis and corrective actions for mechanical issues
- Maintain internal design specifications, drawings, standards, and lessons learned
- Travel to Korean sites for reviews, evaluations, audits, and startup support
