About the Role
You will own controls standards and reference architectures for data center mechanical systems. You will develop control documentation, define cooling-system automation and BMS integration, coordinate stakeholders, review designs, support testing and commissioning, troubleshoot controls, and travel to project sites as needed.
Requirements
- Experience designing or commissioning mechanical controls for data centers, mission-critical facilities, central plants, or industrial environments
- Understanding of chilled-water, condenser-water, heat-rejection, air-cooling, and liquid-cooling systems
- Ability to develop and review sequences of operation, P&IDs, control diagrams, wiring diagrams, points lists, and functional test procedures
- Understanding of PLC, DDC, and BMS architectures
- Knowledge of BACnet, Modbus, and OPC UA
- Experience with instrumentation, sensors, control loops, alarms, interlocks, and equipment safeties
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, controls, or systems engineering, or equivalent practical experience
Responsibilities
- Own controls standards and reference architectures for mechanical systems
- Develop control narratives, sequences of operation, points lists, alarm matrices, diagrams, and controller requirements
- Define automation for cooling plants, cooling systems, and associated equipment
- Design behavior for startup, shutdown, maintenance, failures, utility loss, and recovery
- Establish requirements for instrumentation, panels, controllers, gateways, and operator interfaces
- Define BMS integration, telemetry, trending, alarming, and data retention
- Review partner designs, vendor submittals, control drawings, network architectures, and equipment packages
- Coordinate controls requirements across engineering, construction, commissioning, and operations
- Support testing, commissioning, integrated systems testing, and cooling-system bring-up
- Troubleshoot control, sensor, communication, alarm, and sequence issues
- Travel to project sites, manufacturers, and partner facilities as needed
