About the Role
You will plan production layouts and transitions into new facilities, design material flow, and improve manufacturing operations. You will lead value-stream mapping, kaizen, 5S, standard work, capacity modeling, and KPI tracking. You will work with supply chain, quality, design engineering, technicians, and supervisors to improve flow, manufacturability, quality, and production readiness.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- 7+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in a production environment
- Experience leading production facility layout projects from concept through move-in
- Knowledge of factory design, line layout, and intra-factory logistics for hardware manufacturing
- Experience supporting new products from introduction through production ramp
- Lean manufacturing experience including value-stream mapping, kaizen, 5S, standard work, and pull systems
- CAD proficiency with AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks
- Ability to perform time studies, capacity modeling, and line-balancing analysis in Excel or similar tools
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification preferred
- Experience with robotics, welding, or industrial automation preferred
- Must be local to Columbus, Ohio or willing to relocate
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
Responsibilities
- Lead production layout planning from concept through move-in
- Plan production transitions with minimal disruption to build schedules
- Design intra-factory material flow from receiving through shipment
- Map value streams and prioritize floor improvements
- Lead kaizen, 5S, and standard-work improvements
- Build takt-time, line-balancing, and capacity models
- Resolve flow imbalances with supply chain, quality, and design engineering
- Develop standard work, work instructions, and visual management
- Design fixtures, tooling, kanban, and point-of-use storage
- Define and track manufacturing KPIs
- Maintain accurate material-movement data with ERP and inventory system owners
- Support design for manufacturability and assembly
- Coach engineers and technicians in lean tools and structured problem solving
