About the Role

You will build and operate a coordinated, documented compliance program across jurisdictions. You will manage policy governance, regulatory change intake, sponsor bank requirements, audit readiness, remediation tracking, and second-line BSA/AML control testing. You will coordinate stakeholders, maintain clear reporting and evidence, and drive every issue from intake through documented closure. You will also define tooling requirements, rollout plans, acceptance criteria, and training for new compliance tools. This role does not own transaction-monitoring tuning, alert investigations, SAR decisions, or merchant underwriting.

Requirements

  • 5–10 years of experience in compliance, risk, audit, consulting, or related program management roles
  • At least three years of experience in fintech, payments, startups, or banking
  • Experience building or standing up a program in a high-growth environment
  • Project management and dashboard or tracker development skills
  • Compliance generalist fluency
  • Ability to assess material risks and escalate appropriately
  • Based in or willing to relocate to Chicago
  • Work in the office four days per week

Responsibilities

  • Own the policy, SOP, and control framework across regions, including version control, approvals, attestations, and refresh cycles
  • Harmonize US, Canada, EU, and future-jurisdiction policies into group policies with local addenda
  • Own the policy exception process end to end
  • Build and run independent second-line BSA/AML control testing and monitoring for CIP, KYC, CDD, and EDD
  • Manage the testing calendar, sampling methodology, and testing documentation
  • Own program-level bank and payment-partner relationships and integrate requirements into workflows
  • Pre-review bank onboarding due-diligence responses and standardize the partner escalation guide
  • Manage risk change intake for regulatory, sponsor-bank, and card-scheme changes
  • Lead audit and exam readiness, maintain evidence libraries and response playbooks, and coordinate responses
  • Own the risk and gap register and drive findings to audit-ready closure
  • Design and operate Risk and Compliance Committee governance and follow up on action items
  • Prepare board-level reporting and maintain a program-health command center
  • Partner with Product and Engineering on compliance tooling requirements
  • Own rollout planning, acceptance criteria, and training for new tools
