About the Role
You will lead the preparation, submission, and ongoing management of Money Transmitter License applications and equivalent international licenses. You will act as the primary legal contact for state and federal regulators during application and examination processes, coordinate with outside counsel, and ensure licenses remain in good standing. You will provide legal guardrails during the design of new crypto products, conduct deep-dive legal analysis on whether assets or features trigger securities, commodities, or banking laws, draft and maintain customer-facing Terms of Service and product disclosures, translate legal requirements into operational workflows with Compliance, and write high-level legal policies.
Requirements
- JD degree and active Bar membership in good standing
- Minimum 5 years of experience in crypto assets blockchain or fintech legal environments
- Proven experience obtaining Money Transmitter Licenses and similar financial service licenses including VASP approvals
- Deep knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act
- Deep knowledge of the USA PATRIOT Act
- Familiarity with the Howey Test and securities versus commodities analysis
- Experience engaging with regulators such as FinCEN and NYDFS
