About the Role
You will operate, implement, and maintain on-premises Kubernetes infrastructure. You will improve platform reliability, scalability, performance, and efficiency; investigate and resolve service issues; coordinate with vendors; participate in on-call support; help users use Kubernetes; and help guide platform engineering initiatives and engineers.
Requirements
- BS degree in a scientific field and at least 8 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience administering on-premises Kubernetes clusters
- Strong knowledge of Linux systems fundamentals and networked computing concepts
- Experience with code reviews, code quality, CI/CD tooling, GitOps, and source-control management such as GitLab
- Ability to define, plan, and implement solutions for small and medium projects
- Ability to develop and maintain operational automation programs and scripts using Bash, Python, and Go
- Experience with on-call rotation
- Visa sponsorship is not available
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy clearance
- Pass a pre-placement drug test and participate in an ongoing random drug testing program
- Report onsite to Oak Ridge, Tennessee weekly and regularly
Responsibilities
- Define and implement organizational best practices and standards
- Maintain Kubernetes platform reliability, availability, and performance
- Architect solutions that improve service reliability, scalability, performance, and efficiency
- Respond to, investigate, and resolve service issues from bare metal through application code
- Coordinate with vendors to resolve hardware and software problems
- Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation and off-hours maintenance windows
- Help users use Kubernetes
