About the Role
You will own the firmware lifecycle for BIOS, BMC, NIC, GPU, and storage controllers. You will build fleet-scale validation and automation, define burn-in standards, safely roll out changes, investigate complex hardware failures, lead vendor escalations, prepare next-generation AMD platforms, mentor a diagnostics engineer, and contribute to incident response and documentation.
Requirements
- 6+ years of infrastructure engineering, hardware validation, systems engineering, or related experience
- Hands-on BMC and out-of-band management experience, including Redfish, IPMI, iDRAC, or iLO
- Experience flashing, qualifying, and troubleshooting enterprise-server firmware
- Linux systems knowledge, including boot processes, kernels, drivers, and hardware diagnostics
- Ability to interpret PCIe topology and errors, SEL and sensor data, and thermal and power telemetry
- Python automation experience with REST APIs
- Rigorous diagnostic methodology
- Experience resolving hardware issues with vendors
- Technical writing skills for runbooks, root cause analyses, and vendor escalations
- AMD GPU and ROCm experience is preferred
- GPU and HPC validation experience is preferred
- Kernel-level debugging experience is preferred
- Ansible and Git-based CI/CD workflow experience is preferred
- NetBox, DCIM, or IPAM tooling experience is preferred
Responsibilities
- Own firmware qualification, baselines, staged rollouts, and rollbacks across server components
- Design and build firmware validation harnesses with regression and performance comparisons
- Build fleet-scale automation using Redfish, IPMI, and vendor management APIs
- Define burn-in test matrices, thresholds, and evidence requirements
- Make fleet changes safe through pre-flight validation, staged waves, blast-radius control, and tested rollbacks
- Lead root cause analysis for hardware and firmware failures
- Manage technical escalations with OEM, ODM, and silicon vendors
- Prepare validation and bring-up capabilities for next-generation AMD platforms
- Mentor the diagnostics engineer and convert recurring findings into runbooks and tooling
- Participate in incident response and contribute operational documentation
