About the Role

You will design and develop electrical systems for humanoid robots, from small test systems to integrated prototype robots. You will create schematics and PCB layouts, develop embedded firmware, configure and test robotic systems using Linux, and debug designs in the lab. You will work with mechanical and software engineers to integrate electrical hardware and ensure reliable performance.

Requirements

  • Experience with high-speed data technologies such as PCIe, Ethernet, EtherCAT, or other communication protocols in PCB-based devices and systems.
  • Experience developing power regulation and distribution systems, including short-circuit protection, switching power supplies, and power management technologies.
  • Proficiency with PCB design tools such as Altium for schematic capture and layout.
  • Familiarity with embedded programming in C, HDL, and relevant languages for microcontrollers, DSPs, and FPGAs.
  • Working knowledge of circuit simulation, analysis, and debugging techniques.
  • Experience with Python, C++, LabVIEW, or MATLAB for automation and testing.
  • Knowledge of SolidWorks or similar mechanical CAD tools.
  • Familiarity with Verilog or VHDL for hardware design and simulation.
  • Experience building Linux kernels and modifying or writing device drivers.

Responsibilities

  • Design electrical systems for robotics, including sensors, compute architecture, and power systems.
  • Analyze circuits, review electrical designs, conduct failure analysis, and troubleshoot electrical systems.
  • Create schematics and PCB layouts in Altium.
  • Develop embedded firmware in C and HDL for microcontrollers, DSPs, and FPGAs.
  • Use Linux to configure networks, run software, and interface with robots for testing and validation.
  • Validate designs using lab equipment, including oscilloscopes, DMMs, power supplies, programmable loads, and spectrum analyzers.
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers and software developers to integrate electrical systems with robotics hardware.

Benefits

  • Fully paid medical, dental, and vision insurance for US-based employees.
  • Virtual care and employee assistance resources.
  • 23 days of accrued PTO.
  • Separate sick leave and paid company holidays.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with a 4% employer match.
  • Equity.
  • Free daily catered lunch, snacks, and drinks in the office.
