About the Role
You will improve the full model-training stack, from cluster load scheduling and pipeline reliability to large-scale code execution for reinforcement learning and evaluation inference throughput. You will identify issues, prioritize work, and build maintainable tooling and infrastructure. You will improve code quality through testing, refactoring, and architecture changes, while collaborating through pair or mob programming. You will work on site at least two days per week; if based in Berlin, you will travel to Heidelberg approximately every second month.

Responsibilities
- Optimize training-load scheduling on the cluster
- Improve the robustness and performance of the model-training pipeline
- Enable large-scale code execution for reinforcement learning
- Improve inference throughput in evaluation code
- Design and build training tooling and infrastructure
- Identify issues and take initiative to unblock day-to-day work
- Improve code maintainability through testing, design, and architecture changes
- Collaborate through pair or mob programming
- Attend the office at least two days per week
- Travel to Heidelberg approximately every second month when based in Berlin
