About the Role
You will lead thin-film synthesis using advanced PVD platforms and develop strategies for AI-predicted materials. You will control material structures and properties, collaborate on physics- and chemistry-based growth models, and help design, test, and deploy automated growth and characterization hardware.
Requirements
- PhD in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field
- 5+ years of hands-on experience
- Expertise in thin-film synthesis methods including sputtering, PLD, and MBE
- Skills in structural and chemical characterization using diffraction, microscopy, and spectroscopy
- Experience probing thin-film optical, electronic, magnetic, or thermal properties
- Experience collaborating with computational groups on high-throughput materials discovery
- Experience with hazardous chemistries and laboratory safety
Responsibilities
- Develop synthesis strategies for AI-predicted thin-film materials
- Determine and control crystal structures, defects, microstructures, and material properties
- Build predictive models of materials growth and properties with AI and computation teams
- Design, test, and deploy automated growth and characterization hardware with engineers
