About the Role
You will lead and grow a research team working on biological safety evaluations and classifiers. You will set the technical roadmap, oversee datasets and classifier development, assess production performance, direct red-teaming, and translate evaluation results into deployment recommendations.

Responsibilities
- Manage, coach, and grow a team of research scientists and engineers
- Set the technical direction and roadmap for biological safety research
- Own capability evaluations and turn results into deployment recommendations
- Guide development of training and evaluation datasets
- Oversee safety classifier training and iteration
- Invest in repeatable evaluation and classifier-development tooling
- Measure classifier and evaluation performance in production traffic
- Direct red-teaming and stress-testing of safeguards
- Partner with Research, Product, Policy, and government affairs colleagues
- Represent the work in external communications
- Track developments in biology, machine learning, and biosecurity
