About the Role
You will support card network rules compliance by developing and maintaining policies, preparing responses to network inquiries, and monitoring Visa and Mastercard rule updates. You will manage dispute and chargeback workflows, identify trends and escalate compliance gaps, track and document consumer complaints (Regulation E, Regulation Z, UDAAP), and review customer-facing disclosures and marketing for potential UDAAP concerns. You will partner with product, technology, and customer experience teams to embed compliance considerations into new products and features, and produce periodic reporting and procedure documentation.
Requirements
- 1–3 years experience in compliance, regulatory affairs, or related function within a financial institution, fintech, or payments company
- Foundational knowledge of Visa and/or Mastercard operating rules, especially dispute and chargeback frameworks
- Basic familiarity with Regulation E, Regulation Z, and UDAAP principles
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Clear written communication skills, including ability to summarize regulatory requirements for non-compliance audiences
- Collaborative working style and comfort partnering across operations, product, and customer-facing teams
- Bachelor's degree required
- Preferred: hands-on experience with card network rules compliance or dispute operations at a card issuer or payments processor
- Preferred: exposure to consumer complaint management processes or regulatory examination support
- Preferred: familiarity with supervisory expectations for fintech or non-bank card issuers
- Preferred: certifications like CRCM (Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager)
Responsibilities
- Support development and maintenance of policies and controls reflecting card network requirements
- Prepare responses to card network inquiries, audits, and compliance assessments
- Monitor and track Visa and Mastercard rule updates and assess their impact
- Partner with product and technology to flag network rule considerations during product development
- Support dispute and chargeback workflows and ensure alignment with Visa/Mastercard rules
- Identify trends in dispute and chargeback activity and escalate compliance gaps
- Maintain procedure documentation and job aids for dispute handling
- Track, categorize, and document consumer complaints involving Regulation E, Regulation Z, and UDAAP
- Monitor complaint trends and contribute to periodic compliance reporting
- Review customer-facing disclosures, communications, and marketing for UDAAP concerns
