About the Role

You'll oversee all agent network acquisition and user growth operations for your assigned region in Malawi, reporting to the Country Launcher. You'll supervise Field Officers' activities, liaise with agent admin teams, and work to hit growth targets across your region. You'll coordinate agent recruitment, contracting, activation, training, and ongoing liquidity management, while managing risk through routine visitation and performance monitoring. You'll also manage agent churn, oversee a team of Field Officers who manage field-based promoters, and drive strategies to boost retention of newly acquired users. As the primary contact for agency networks and new users in your region, you'll execute operational excellence, manage costs, ensure compliance with policies and regulations, and champion excellent customer service.

Requirements

  • Fluency in English and a local language
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience managing an agent network and/or user acquisition in Malawi
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience managing field-based teams
  • Must have worked and overseen agent network activities in the upcountry
  • Prior launch experience is desirable

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Field Officers in identifying opportunity areas for new agent locations and acquiring agents according to selection criteria
  • Ensure Field Officers recruit agents in compliance with legal and policy requirements
  • Ensure all agents execute valid contracts and are trained on contract contents before signing
  • Ensure all agents are trained and certified on products, procedures, KYC and AML/CTF requirements
  • Coordinate delivery of supplies and outlet branding
  • Coordinate cash and e-value availability monitoring at agents with Liquidity and Agent Quality Territory teams
  • Manage teams in monitoring agent performance against targets and report on emerging issues
  • Coordinate identification of agents for closure and recovery of Wave items, equipment and branding material
  • Manage a team of Field Officers who manage field-based promoters recruiting new users
  • Identify and solve critical blockers for user growth and develop retention strategies
  • Hire, train, manage and monitor distribution team members and use data to inform distribution strategy
  • Serve as the primary contact for agency networks and new users in the region
  • Execute operational excellence, manage costs and ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory guidelines
  • Champion excellent customer service and quality service delivery standards
