About the Role

You will lead and manage all aspects of several portfolios of partner P&C MGUs/MGAs/Program Administrators, overseeing a broad spectrum of programs. You'll review new submissions, conduct due diligence, and manage ongoing production and profitability for specialized program areas. You will manage risk within appetite and underwriting guidelines, and play a key role in building, developing, and managing MGU/MGA/Program relationships. You'll report to the Head of Property and Casualty Program Management and partner closely with Finance, Actuarial, Claims, Legal, Compliance, Operations and IT to solve challenges and drive execution across the business.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of Property and Casualty Insurance experience in an underwriting and/or product role
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to develop analytical/dynamic underwriting models
  • Ability to provide leadership that drives underwriting process improvement
  • Strong intellectual curiosity and desire to help others solve problems
  • Confidence in skillset with desire to learn and make an impact
  • Highly entrepreneurial with experience creating new and emerging products for rapid market entry

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of P&C underwriting guidelines and Letters of Authority for MGUs/MGAs/Program Administrators
  • Actively manage Key Performance Indicators including pricing objectives, profit improvement and combined loss ratio results
  • Partner with Finance, Actuarial, Claims, Legal, Compliance, Operations and IT to analyze issues and drive execution
  • Support development of program and ceded business documents with Underwriting, CUO and legal department
  • Develop new P&C products including research, underwriting guidelines, SERFF support, pricing and state submissions
  • Perform audits and conduct program reviews, examining policies, endorsements, OFAC and plan documents
  • Identify and manage portfolio-level risks, issues and dependencies
  • Partner with Legal/Compliance on legislative and regulatory topics impacting P&C programs
  • Support corporate accounting with collection of program data including premiums, states and limits
  • Develop and maintain relationships with MGUs/MGAs/Program Administrators
  • Monitor market and program specific trends to ensure performance consistent with expectations
  • Serve as primary contact for each direct insurance program for administrative, underwriting and service concerns
  • Build and maintain relationships with support units, brokers and reinsurers
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly management reports and other ad hoc reports
  • Support P&C new business initiatives and triage new business opportunities
  • Assist in training and developing staff
  • Provide expertise on coverage issues with Claims
  • Develop and lead marketing presentations to new and current agents/brokers
  • Lead and ensure successful completion of complex projects
  • Diagnose and develop recommendations to solve business and customer challenges
