About the Role
You will own and prioritize the Payments product backlog, working closely with Engineering to design and deliver reliable, scalable, secure, API-driven solutions. You will lead sprint planning, refinement, and retrospectives; gather requirements from customers, partners, and stakeholders; test APIs with tools such as Postman; improve developer experience; and create and maintain API references and integration guides. You will also translate technical concepts into clear documentation and support alignment between Product and Engineering.
Requirements
- Experience as a Product Owner or similar, owning backlogs and working closely with engineering teams in an Agile environment
- Strong technical background with hands-on API design, testing, and integration experience
- Relevant payments experience and understanding of payment methods, schemes, and flows
- Experience creating or contributing to developer-facing documentation, including API references and integration guides
- Familiarity with Postman, OpenAPI, Swagger, or similar API and documentation tools
- Proficiency using Jira to manage product backlogs, prioritize work items, define user stories and acceptance criteria, and track delivery progress
- Familiarity with customer-facing web application products and user-centric product design
- Ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, design, and commercial teams
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making
- Experience with Account-to-Account payments systems across the UK and EU is desirable
- Familiarity with Open Banking standards and frameworks, including PSD2 regulations and APIs, is desirable
- Understanding of Agile delivery practices within regulated financial services environments is desirable
- Knowledge of HTML, Markdown, and technical content management systems such as Redocly is desirable
