About the Role
You will own powder-synthesis workflows across dispensing, mixing, pressing, reaction, recovery, and characterization. You will build process controls, investigate failures and data issues, apply statistical process control and design of experiments, create operator workflows, and translate laboratory lessons into automation requirements.
Requirements
- Degree in chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering, or a related field
- Hands-on experience in solid-state chemistry, ceramics, or powder processing
- Process engineering experience in a high-mix R&D, pilot, or manufacturing environment
- Statistical process control, Six Sigma, lean, and design of experiments knowledge
- JMP or Minitab
- Powder and ceramic characterization, including XRD and SEM
- High-temperature ceramic processing
- Equipment troubleshooting
- Ability to read and lightly modify scripts and validate data flows
- Cross-functional communication
Responsibilities
- Own powder-synthesis workflows from dispensing through characterization
- Map process failure modes and design controls for prevention, detection, and recovery
- Apply statistical process control to identify drift and stabilize processes
- Troubleshoot laboratory equipment and lead root-cause investigations
- Investigate data-integrity issues and adjust scripts and instrumentation with software and infrastructure partners
- Design operator workflows that prevent sample mix-ups and reduce variation
- Run design of experiments to identify influential recipe and process factors
- Translate manual-laboratory lessons into requirements for automated laboratory systems
- Establish scalable process documentation, control plans, and feedback loops
