About the Role

You will own hands-on troubleshooting and reliability improvements for robotic hardware. You will diagnose field failures, test and validate solutions, improve electrical systems and sensor integration, review designs, and translate findings into permanent engineering changes. You will also help define future US hardware engineering practices and hiring needs.

Requirements

  • 10+ years developing or troubleshooting complex electromechanical systems
  • Experience with mobile robots, AGVs/AMRs, industrial automation, autonomous vehicles, or similar equipment
  • Electrical systems expertise in power distribution, grounding, EMI/EMC, protection, wiring, and PCB-level diagnosis
  • Experience integrating and debugging sensors, motor controllers, embedded computers, and industrial communications
  • Ability to diagnose failures across electrical, embedded, mechanical, and software boundaries
  • Experience using test instruments, schematics, logs, and controlled experiments
  • Experience converting field failures into verified design improvements
  • Ability to lead technical work across international engineering and manufacturing teams
  • Clear communication with engineers, technicians, suppliers, and leadership

Responsibilities

  • Lead troubleshooting of robot failures at customer sites and in the Denver lab
  • Diagnose electrical, sensor, motor-controller, embedded-computer, wiring, and communication problems
  • Use test instruments, logs, and controlled testing to verify root causes
  • Improve 48V/24V electrical architecture, power distribution, grounding, harnessing, connectors, and PCB designs
  • Integrate and debug robotic sensors and industrial I/O
  • Debug Ethernet, CAN, RS485, and related communications
  • Create diagnostic and repair procedures with field technicians
  • Translate field findings into design requirements and corrective actions
  • Review schematics, PCB layouts, harnesses, component selections, and system architecture
  • Develop validation tests for warehouse operating conditions
  • Define next-generation robot controller and electrical-platform requirements
  • Establish technical practices and a hiring plan for a future US hardware engineering team
