About the Role
You will lead product design for complex financial-product initiatives, turning ambiguous requirements into clear end-to-end experiences. You will partner with product and engineering from problem definition through implementation, design sophisticated workflows and prototypes, contribute reusable patterns to the design system, use research and data to guide decisions, and mentor other designers.
Requirements
- 8+ years of product design experience, including ownership of complex products or major product areas.
- Portfolio demonstrating product thinking, interaction design, and visual craft across shipped experiences.
- Experience solving complex problems with initially undefined requirements, customer needs, or product models.
- Strong systems thinking.
- Excellent interaction design skills for sophisticated workflows, data-heavy products, and multi-step experiences.
- Strong visual design fundamentals, including typography, hierarchy, layout, information density, interaction detail, and product polish.
- Ability to independently drive work from problem framing through design and implementation.
- Ability to work closely with engineers and make pragmatic design decisions based on technical systems.
- Strong communication and storytelling skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience influencing Product and Engineering partners and challenging requirements constructively.
- Ability to give and receive thoughtful critique.
- Adhere to company security policies and data handling procedures.
- Complete mandatory security awareness training.
- Promptly report suspected security incidents or suspicious activity.
Responsibilities
- Lead product design for complex initiatives across Figure Markets and related lending products.
- Turn ambiguous or incomplete requirements into coherent end-to-end experiences.
- Identify missing logic, dependencies, edge cases, and product opportunities.
- Partner with Product and Engineering from early problem definition through implementation.
- Explore approaches, communicate tradeoffs, and support product decisions.
- Design sophisticated workflows, data-dense interfaces, account and transaction experiences, permissions, and states.
- Anticipate error states, lifecycle changes, regulatory constraints, system behavior, and downstream consequences.
- Create prototypes and high-fidelity designs.
- Contribute reusable patterns to the evolving design system.
- Partner with Engineering to preserve design intent and resolve implementation constraints.
- Use research, customer feedback, product data, domain expertise, and cross-functional input to inform design decisions.
- Present design work and rationale to partners and senior leadership.
- Provide critique and mentorship to other designers.
- Identify cross-product patterns and opportunities for coherent experiences.
