About the Role
You will lead the technical direction and architecture for Push, covering backend services, external integrations, data flows, and onchain settlement. You will design resilient transaction-lifecycle services, lead integrations with banking, payment, identity, compliance, and blockchain providers, and establish secure engineering and operational standards. You will translate product and regulatory requirements into delivery plans, guide engineers through high-impact work, and remain hands-on for complex architecture, critical changes, and production issues.
Requirements
- 8+ years of backend engineering experience, including senior technical leadership of production systems and teams
- Experience designing distributed event-driven systems that move or account for real money
- Experience with regulated financial products
- Strong backend programming skills
- Production experience with Rust, or deep experience with Go, Java, or C++
- Strong knowledge of API design, PostgreSQL or another relational database, messaging systems, and service-to-service integration patterns
- Experience in regulated fintech, payments, banking, digital assets, or another environment requiring auditability, controls, and high availability
- System-design judgement covering migration strategy, build-versus-buy decisions, security boundaries, and long-term operational cost
- Track record of leading engineers through ambiguous, high-impact work while remaining close to implementation and production operations
Responsibilities
- Own the technical direction and architecture across backend services, external integrations, data flows, and onchain settlement
- Translate product, regulatory, and operational requirements into an engineering roadmap and well-scoped projects
- Design and build resilient on-ramp and off-ramp transaction-lifecycle services
- Lead integrations with open-banking, payment, identity, compliance, and blockchain infrastructure providers
- Define secure boundaries between fiat systems, non-custodial wallets, and onchain execution
- Set standards for secure development, architecture review, testing, observability, incident response, deployment, and on-call ownership
- Partner with Product, Compliance, Legal, Security, Operations, Finance, and application engineers
- Remain hands-on for complex architecture, high-risk changes, and critical production issues
