About the Role

You will lead thermal design, analysis, and integration for aircraft avionics and custom power electronics. You will develop and validate thermal models, lead cross-functional design work, direct testing, guide technical decisions, mentor engineers, and communicate findings to stakeholders.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Minimum 7 years of professional experience in avionics or electronics thermal engineering
  • Expertise in heat transfer and fluid mechanics
  • Understanding of active and passive cooling solutions
  • Understanding of TIMs, spreaders, heat sinks, vapor chambers, heat pipes, and fans
  • Proficiency with thermal analysis and CFD tools, including ANSYS Icepak, FloEFD, or STAR-CCM+
  • Proficiency with CAD tools such as NX or SolidWorks
  • Experience applying first-principles reasoning to complex engineering problems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to obtain an S//SAR level security clearance desired

Responsibilities

  • Own thermal analysis and design for unmanned aerial vehicle avionics and custom power electronics
  • Develop and validate heat-transfer and fluid-flow models using hand calculations and CFD tools
  • Provide technical leadership for trade studies, system architecture decisions, and risk assessments
  • Lead cross-functional teams designing power-electronic circuits and environmental enclosures
  • Drive test planning, instrumentation, and data analysis
  • Mentor junior engineers and guide cross-disciplinary teams
  • Communicate technical findings through executive briefings, design reviews, and reports
  • Identify risks, propose solutions, and influence electrical and PCBA design direction
