About the Role
You will research, develop, optimize, and validate software, drivers, firmware, and hardware-software co-design approaches for edge neuromorphic systems. You will benchmark physical hardware, collaborate with researchers, publish findings, author technical materials, and present results publicly.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, or a closely related field
- Programming proficiency in C, C++, and Python
- Experience with embedded systems programming, bare-metal development, or RTOS
- Experience with ARM or RISC-V microcontrollers and FPGA development using Verilog, VHDL, or SystemVerilog
- Experience with SPI, I2C, UART, and PCIe
- Experience with software engineering, Git, documentation, and tutorials
- Understanding of neuromorphic computing, spiking neural networks, neuron models, and SNN training or conversion methods
- Publication record in peer-reviewed journals and conferences
- Ph.D. received no more than five years before application and all degree requirements completed before appointment
- Ability to obtain and maintain a federal PIV card and pass a Federal Tier 1 background investigation
- Submit three letters of reference
Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize low-level software, drivers, and firmware for spiking neural networks on embedded platforms
- Develop and evaluate hardware-software co-design approaches for edge neuromorphic systems
