About the Role

You will own the lifecycle of operational technology systems, from architecture and engineering design through commissioning, operations, refresh, and decommissioning. You will configure industrial control, facility automation, power monitoring, networking, and IT/OT integration systems. You will strengthen OT cybersecurity, manage incidents and changes, define observability and IOC data integrations, lead commissioning deliverables, maintain technical documentation, and improve the reliability, availability, and security of multi-site OT infrastructure.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of hands-on OT/controls engineering or OT infrastructure experience.
  • Experience owning industrial control systems in operational environments.
  • Experience in data center, colocation, energy, utilities, or equivalent 24/7 critical infrastructure environments.
  • Hands-on expertise with SCADA, DCS, PLC programming, HMI configuration, and historian platforms.
  • Proficiency with Modbus TCP/RTU, DNP3, BACnet/IP, PROFINET, IEC 61850, OPC-UA, and MQTT.
  • Understanding of OT networking, industrial Ethernet, managed switches, VLAN segmentation, ring redundancy, and OT/IT boundary architecture.
  • Knowledge of IEC 62443 and NIST SP 800-82 and experience implementing security controls in live control-system environments.
  • Experience with data center power and cooling systems and BMS/EMS and power-monitoring integration.
  • Technical documentation skills, including P&IDs, loop drawings, network diagrams, commissioning reports, and RCA documentation.
  • ISA CCST, ISA CAP, or equivalent controls or OT certification.

Responsibilities

  • Own the architecture, design, and lifecycle of OT systems across data center and energy infrastructure sites.
  • Design, configure, and validate control logic, I/O mappings, and communication architectures for facility automation systems.
  • Manage OT communication protocols and integration layers between field devices, controllers, and supervisory systems.
  • Engineer, configure, and commission OT networking infrastructure and OT DMZ architecture.
  • Perform OT capacity planning and performance analysis.
  • Maintain OT configuration management standards, project backups, firmware logs, change records, and golden images.
  • Manage the OT asset lifecycle, including procurement, FAT, SAT, commissioning, decommissioning, asset registers, and CMDB records.
  • Integrate BMS and EMS platforms with data center power infrastructure.
  • Manage cooling and environmental control system integration.
  • Configure and maintain power monitoring systems and integrations with DCIM platforms.
  • Lead alarm rationalization across facility automation systems.
  • Define OT telemetry, tag naming, threshold, and escalation requirements for the IOC.
  • Enforce OT cybersecurity controls, including network segmentation, OT DMZs, security gateways, and bastion controls.
  • Manage OT vulnerability assessment and patch management.
  • Enforce OT access controls, removable-media policies, remote access controls, and privileged account management.
  • Maintain OT hardening baselines.
  • Support compliance evidence, network diagrams, and risk documentation for audits.
  • Develop and maintain OT incident response playbooks.
  • Lead fault isolation and vendor coordination for OT incidents and produce RCA documentation.
  • Own OT change management for PLC, SCADA, HMI, and OT network changes.
  • Drive OT problem management and remediation planning.
  • Define OT data integration architecture and monitoring coverage for the IOC.
  • Define OT KPIs and availability targets and contribute to infrastructure health reports.
  • Lead OT engineering deliverables for new data center commissioning projects.
  • Develop standard OT architectures, configuration templates, and commissioning procedures.
  • Maintain a continuous improvement backlog for OT infrastructure.
  • Evaluate OT technologies such as digital twins, predictive maintenance, and AIOps tooling.
  • Contribute OT lifecycle cost models, refresh schedules, and investment cases to the annual budget process.
