About the Role
You will commission, energize, operate, and maintain high- and medium-voltage infrastructure. You will lead acceptance and relay testing, coordinate switching and outages, execute electrical-safety practices, maintain substation assets, investigate faults, and support reliable campus power operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, physics, or another engineering discipline, or 8+ years of substation field experience in lieu of a degree
- 5+ years of substation commissioning, testing, build, or utility-operations experience on high-power, high-voltage systems
- Ability to perform hands-on work in varied weather, tight quarters, or at heights
- Ability to work extended hours and weekends
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted
- Ability to provide 24/7 on-call emergency support
- Willingness to work on-site in Memphis, Tennessee
- Ability to travel up to 25%
- Valid driver's license
Responsibilities
- Commission high- and medium-voltage assets and own their operational reliability
- Own substation and transmission energization plans
- Direct NETA acceptance testing of electrical equipment
- Execute relay testing, transfer-trip verification, and SCADA and telemetry checkout
- Coordinate utility outages and switching procedures
- Execute the field electrical-safety program
- Maintain transformer oil, breakers, batteries, chargers, SF6 monitoring, and fault investigations
- Collaborate with construction teams, vendors, and technicians to improve campus operations
- Ensure compliance with NFPA, NESC, and IEEE standards
