About the Role

You operate and maintain power facility equipment, including heat recovery steam generators, air compressors, fire suppression systems, turbines, generators, and water treatment equipment. You troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems, inspect equipment, record operating data, manage water chemistry, operate circuit breakers, document maintenance activities, support vendors, analyze failures, and maintain plant areas.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical one-lines, logic drawings, technical manuals, and P&IDs
  • Knowledge of mechanical, instrumentation, and electrical equipment
  • Ability to repair, replace, and dismantle defective parts
  • Ability to diagnose mechanical equipment problems and perform water chemistry analysis
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to train personnel and write operating procedures
  • Ability to operate welding and cutting equipment, drill presses, pipe threading machines, and grinders
  • Ability to walk, reach, climb, and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Willingness to work a 12-hour rotating shift and be available for call-ins and work overload
  • Authorization to work in the USA
  • Participation in a drug and alcohol program
  • Associate degree or equivalent preferred
  • Two to four years of related power plant experience or training preferred
  • Experience operating manlifts and forklifts preferred
  • Microsoft Office proficiency preferred

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain power generating facility equipment
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair pumps, valves, fans, gearboxes, and turbine components
  • Inspect plant systems and record meter and gauge data
  • Analyze and adjust water chemistry systems
  • Open and close circuit breakers
  • Install piping and conduit for plant upgrades
  • Use the CMMS and write reports or work requests
  • Assist with O&M procedures
  • Coordinate chemical ordering and equipment repairs with vendors
  • Assist with root cause analysis
  • Perform housekeeping and painting projects
