About the Role
You operate and maintain a simple cycle power generating facility and auxiliary equipment. You troubleshoot CEMS and plant equipment, perform root cause analysis, inspect systems, record operating data, manage water chemistry, operate circuit breakers, install piping and conduit, use the CMMS, support procedures and training, coordinate vendors and projects, and maintain plant and control room areas.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of power plant operations
- Ability to make competent decisions in emergency situations
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical one-lines, logic drawings, technical manuals, and P&IDs
- Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical, instrumentation, and electrical equipment
- Ability to operate welding and cutting equipment
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Microsoft Office proficiency, specifically Excel and Word
- Ability to walk, reach, climb, and lift up to 50 pounds
- Willingness to work 12-hour rotating shifts and be available for call-ins or work overload
- Authorization to work in the USA
- Participation in a drug and alcohol program
- Associate degree or equivalent preferred
- Two to four years of related power plant experience or training preferred
- Experience operating manlifts and forklifts preferred
- Advanced water chemistry and demineralized water system knowledge preferred
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain a power generating facility and auxiliary equipment
- Identify and resolve CEMS problems
- Perform root cause analysis of failures
- Repair pumps, valves, gearboxes, and other plant equipment
- Inspect plant systems and record operating data
- Analyze water chemistry and control chemical feed and blowdown rates
- Open and close circuit breakers
- Install piping and conduit for plant upgrades
- Use the CMMS and assist with developing O&M procedures
- Coordinate vendors and support capital projects
- Assist with operator training
- Perform housekeeping, painting, and continuous improvement tasks
