About the Role
You will own material readiness for new-product-introduction PCBAs and components, from early prototypes through mass production. You will translate changing BOMs and build schedules into purchase orders, committed delivery dates, and kitted builds. You will coordinate with engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, quality, and logistics stakeholders to manage shortages, supplier commitments, engineering changes, inventory, and transition planning.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, a related field, or applicable industry experience
- 3–5 years of buying, planning, or materials-management experience
- At least 2 years supporting NPI or prototype builds
- Experience with complex electromechanical hardware
- Experience buying against immature BOMs and managing engineering changes in live builds
- Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and PLM tools
- Advanced Excel skills, including XLOOKUP, pivot tables, and shortage and coverage modeling
- Ability to read BOMs and discuss tolerances, finishes, and component specifications
- SQL or BI tooling experience is a plus
Responsibilities
- Convert engineering build plans and prototype schedules into time-phased material requirements for EVT, DVT, PVT, and pilot builds
- Plan against incomplete and changing BOMs and run BOM scrubs with Engineering
- Identify long-lead and single-source parts and drive risk-buy or bridge-buy decisions
- Build and maintain NPI shortage lists and publish clear-to-build status and recovery dates
- Plan build-specific material overages using historical program data
- Manage the RFQ-to-PO cycle for prototype and pilot material
- Expedite or de-expedite orders and escalate supplier commitment risks
- Manage purchases for unreleased or non-standard parts
- Reconcile pricing, MOQs, NRE, and tooling charges
- Manage material disposition for NPI ECOs and deviations
- Maintain item-master, BOM, planning-tracker, lead-time, and cost data
- Coordinate consignment materials and maintain NPI inventory accuracy
- Hand off part history, supplier commitments, lead times, and planning parameters to production planning
- Provide EAU forecasts and demand signals to Global Supply Management
- Improve NPI material-flow reporting, planning, and cross-functional handoffs
