About the Role
You will review mechanical and cooling designs for operability, maintainability, access, redundancy, instrumentation, and failure modes. You will verify installations, witness commissioning tests, drive issues to closure, validate turnover documentation and training, and support early operations through alarm tuning, setpoint refinement, and troubleshooting.
Requirements
- 8+ years in critical facilities mechanical operations, commissioning, or chief-engineer-track roles.
- Hands-on knowledge of chilled water plants and hydronic systems.
- Experience with air-cooled, water-cooled, and liquid or direct-to-chip data center cooling.
- Level 1-5 commissioning experience from the witness or operations side.
- Experience reviewing designs for maintainability, access, isolation, and instrumentation.
- Strong turnover documentation practices.
- Experience with water treatment and cleanliness protocols for critical hydronic systems.
- CFC or EPA certifications, trade licensure, or an engineering degree are welcome paths.
Responsibilities
- Review chilled water, air cooling, liquid cooling, CDU, CRAH, heat rejection, and water treatment designs.
- Evaluate maintenance access, isolation, redundancy, degraded-mode operation, instrumentation, and failure consequences.
- Inspect mechanical installations for routing, supports, access, clearances, insulation, cleanliness, and flushing compliance.
- Witness Level 3-5 commissioning and integrated systems testing.
- Document commissioning issues with clear acceptance criteria and verify closure.
- Validate O&M manuals, as-builts, labeling, water treatment baselines, spares, and preventive maintenance inputs.
- Validate operator training and support early operations stabilization.
- Provide alarm tuning, setpoint refinement, and troubleshooting support.
