About the Role

You will define thermodynamic-cycle requirements and design heat exchangers, piping, valves, headers, relief, and isolation systems. You will evaluate operating tradeoffs using coupled exchanger ratings, test cycle predictions against measured performance, and document model gaps and design decisions.

Requirements

  • Build and defend thermodynamic cycle models from fluid properties
  • Size heat exchangers using appropriate published correlations
  • Calibrate models against machine datasheets or test data
  • Write analyses that inform design decisions
  • Size and approve relief paths
  • Apply vapor-compression, transcritical-cycle, propulsion, cryogenic-fluid-system, piping, relief-design, real-gas-property, two-phase-heat-transfer, or data-center-thermal-architecture knowledge

Responsibilities

  • Define thermodynamic-cycle requirements, including working fluid, pressures, temperatures, and flows
  • Design large-scale heat exchangers
  • Design piping, valves, headers, relief, and isolation systems
  • Evaluate air-side temperature rise, face velocity, and subcooling tradeoffs
  • Validate cycle predictions against measured COP and identify model gaps
