About the Role

You will own mechanical automation design from concept through manufacturing release, floor integration, and commissioning. You will create CAD models, drawings, BOMs, and work instructions; troubleshoot electromechanical systems; validate designs; and incorporate field feedback into reliable, scalable product improvements.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in mechanical design mechanical systems engineering mechatronics robotics or a related field
  • 3+ years designing mechanical systems or equipment for industrial automation and robotics
  • Mechanical design ownership through manufacturing release
  • 3D CAD proficiency preferably SolidWorks
  • Drafting and GD&T
  • Industrial robotic-system integration
  • Mechanical interfaces with EOAT conveyance sensors actuators and guarding
  • Automation-system troubleshooting
  • Shop-floor assembly integration testing modification and repair
  • Onsite work in the greater Chicago area
  • Ability to travel up to 25%

Responsibilities

  • Design automation systems assemblies and end-of-arm tooling from concept through release
  • Model prototype assemble and test end-of-line automation systems in SolidWorks
  • Maintain controlled CAD model drawing and revision-release structures
  • Create CAD models drawings BOMs schematics SOPs and work instructions
  • Integrate and commission mechanical electrical and control subsystems
  • Lead technical aspects of assigned automation projects
  • Troubleshoot electromechanical systems during build and commissioning
  • Apply design-for-manufacturability and design-for-assembly practices
  • Perform root-cause analysis and resolve system-level hardware issues
  • Develop and execute test plans
  • Coordinate with vendors system integrators and OEMs
  • Incorporate deployment feedback into design improvements
