About the Role
You will oversee mechanical lifting and rigging activities for reactor-component installation. You will review and produce lifting plans, inspect lifting equipment, select rigging accessories, brief personnel and subcontractors, identify hazards, coordinate crane slots, and ensure lifting operations comply with legal, site, and nuclear-safety requirements.
Requirements
- Experience planning rigging operations
- Knowledge of lifting plans for mobile, crawler, or tower cranes
- Ability to obtain BPSS or higher security clearance
- CPCS A61 Appointed Person Blue Card
- IOSH Managing Safely or SMSTS
- Knowledge of health, safety, welfare legislation, hazards, and safe systems of work
- Leadership and resource-management skills
- Communication skills
- AutoCAD proficiency preferred
- ECITB Appointed Person Moving Loads and TAP01 preferred
- NVQ Level 3 Steel Erecting or Moving Loads preferred
- Experience in nuclear power, power stations, refineries, or major construction projects preferred
Responsibilities
- Implement processes and procedures to control mechanical lifting activities
- Review and produce rigging lifting plans
- Perform lifting assurance checks and inspect lifting equipment
- Select appropriate rigging accessories and attachment methods
- Brief lifting and rigging personnel and subcontractors before operations
- Designate supervisors and plan resources for lifting activities
- Identify and investigate lifting-area hazards
- Coordinate corrective actions and safe systems of work
- Attend contractor coordination meetings to book crane slots
- Conduct site inspections and ensure safe systems of work are followed
- Support the Lifting Manager in delivering lifting activities and meeting resource needs
