About the Role
You will guide autonomy retrofit kits from prototype builds through transition to contract manufacturing and stable production. You will develop manufacturing processes, validate builds, manage contract manufacturer delivery, cost, quality, documentation, inventory, and production issue resolution.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering.
- 5+ years of manufacturing or process engineering experience with electro-mechanical hardware shipped to the field.
- Hands-on experience with SOP development, box builds, PCB/A, harness and cable assembly manufacturing, and firmware/software flashing.
- Experience integrating, testing, and validating sensor and compute hardware for autonomy systems.
- Working knowledge of CNC, casting, sheet metal, powder coating, jigs, and fixtures.
- Advanced ability to interpret mechanical and electrical designs, including GD&T, tolerance stacking, and basic SPC.
- DFM, DFA, and DFT experience across NPI, ramp, and scale.
- Contract manufacturing management experience, including on-site support and ECR/ECO coordination.
- Working knowledge of QMS, supplier quality management, and inventory control.
- Familiarity with CAD, electrical design tools, and ERP/PLM/inventory systems.
- Skill using AI tools to automate manufacturing workflow data review.
Responsibilities
- Partner with engineering on process design and DFX for kit builds, fixtures, work instructions, routers, and build sequencing.
- Translate designs into a contract-manufacturer-ready package before handoff.
- Own the handoff from engineering to the contract manufacturer, including process validation, first-article approval, and clear-to-build sign-off.
- Manage contract manufacturer delivery, cost, and quality after transition.
- Resolve floor issues and hold shipments pending disposition when necessary.
- Coordinate ECRs and ECOs between the contract manufacturer and engineering.
- Monitor on-time delivery and cost, and drive root-cause analysis and corrective action.
- Enforce quality inspection, non-conformance management, CAPA, and inventory control.
- Oversee finished-goods kitting, configuration, packaging, and shipment staging.
- Support NPI and ramp-to-volume activities, including tooling, fixtures, and test-station validation.
- Track yield, cycle time, scrap, and rework rates, and reduce variance.
