About the Role
The Core Infrastructure – Platforms team operates the foundational compute, storage, orchestration, and infrastructure systems supporting Kraken engineering. This role focuses on evolving and scaling OpenStack across compute, networking, and provisioning, integrating storage systems, building automation, documenting operations, supporting engineering teams, and participating in on-call rotation.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience as an Infrastructure, Platform, DevOps, or Software Engineer or in a similar role.
- Strong technical guidance, communication, and customer-focused problem-solving skills.
- Hands-on experience building and maintaining an OpenStack private cloud or Ceph networked storage platform.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems fundamentals.
- Strong Linux systems knowledge, including processes, networking, file systems, and permissions.
- Networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, ports, IP addressing, routing, TLS, and PKI concepts.
- Ability to leverage AI tools and agents such as Claude and OpenAI.
- Scripting or programming experience in Python, Bash, Go, or similar.
- Nice to have: Kubernetes cluster operations experience.
- Nice to have: exposure to AWS, GCP, Azure, or on-premises infrastructure.
- Nice to have: Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code experience.
- Nice to have: storage systems experience such as Ceph or Rook.
Responsibilities
- Operate OpenStack compute, networking, and provisioning platforms.
- Learn and troubleshoot Ceph storage systems.
- Handle feature requests and support tickets for OpenStack and storage systems.
- Troubleshoot complex full-stack issues.
- Build automation and tooling.
- Contribute to documentation and runbooks.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to maintain platform reliability.
