About the Role
You will travel to construction sites to install, test, switch, ground, and energize high-voltage substation equipment. You will interpret drawings and switching procedures, create records, apply electrical safety standards, coordinate with project partners, and provide constructability feedback as project locations change.
Requirements
- 5+ years as a journeyman lineman or substation electrician on systems of 69 kV and above
- Journey-level lineman card or documented substation electrician qualification
- High-voltage switching and clearance experience under OSHA 1910.269
- Ability to interpret substation drawings and switching orders
- Knowledge of NFPA 70E, lockout/tagout, and high-voltage clearance
- Ability to climb, work at height outdoors, lift up to 50 pounds, and wear high-voltage PPE
- Willingness to work overtime, nights, weekends, and extended shifts
- Willingness to travel 80% or more
Responsibilities
- Travel to project sites to install, land, and test high-voltage substation equipment
- Perform switching, isolation, grounding, and restoration under approved orders and clearances
- Install high-voltage conductors, jumpers, terminations, and grounding
- Support first energization and commissioning
- Interpret substation drawings and switching procedures
- Produce as-built drawings and test records
- Apply NESC, NFPA 70E, OSHA 1910.269, lockout/tagout, and arc-flash protocols
- Coordinate with contractors, engineers, utilities, and operations teams
- Participate in constructability reviews and provide field feedback
- Mobilize between project locations
