About the Role
You will design, balance, and test core game systems that improve player progression, retention, engagement, and monetisation. You will own the game economy, seasonal live operations, and pricing strategy; analyse KPIs and player feedback; develop and test optimisation hypotheses; and collaborate on roadmap and content needs. You will also design game and meta systems that integrate a token economy with support from the Product Director.
Requirements
- Previous senior game design experience focused on midcore and mobile free-to-play titles, or at least three years as a mid-level game designer.
- Understanding of action and strategy games, player motivation, spending behaviour, and long-term engagement.
- Experience working on at least one scaled free-to-play mobile game in the live operations stage.
- Experience designing, documenting, and shipping game systems focused on progression, economy balancing, monetisation, and live operations.
- Ability to analyse data, document hypotheses, design experiments, and measure results.
- Motivation to work on a free-to-play title with loot box mechanics.
- Availability during EU working hours, including core hours from 9:30am to 4pm UTC/BST.
Responsibilities
- Design in-game systems that shape player progression, retention, monetisation, and player experience.
- Shape player journeys to optimise long-term retention and mastery.
- Use Unity to playtest development features, content, and balancing.
- Test designed systems before release to ensure they deliver the intended experience.
- Own the design, balancing, and monitoring of the game economy, live operations, and monetisation.
- Balance the economy to provide a fair, rewarding player experience and strong free-to-play performance.
- Collaborate on virtual bundles, pricing strategies, and in-app purchases.
- Own seasonal direction, planning, economy, and live operations balancing.
- Propose live operations and monetisation features with quantified ROI.
- Collaborate on the roadmap and content needs.
- Use data to monitor KPIs, economy balance, and live operations performance and recommend optimisation hypotheses.
- Monitor player behaviour and feedback patterns and improve live content.
- Design game and meta systems that integrate a token economy.
