About the Role

You will own the technical vision and roadmap for the Flutter platform and define the migration strategy across the organisation. You will design and document the Flutter architecture, including state management, layering, platform channels, design system integration, accessibility, and localisation. You will partner with fleet engineers, engineering managers, and the ADL team to sequence and de-risk the full migration programme, providing technical governance and quality gates. You will lead the Flutter chapter, run design reviews, write decision records, maintain the internal Flutter handbook, and create a learning environment for engineers. You will translate technical constraints into clear product implications, influence the roadmap with architectural insight, and represent the organisation externally through conference talks and open-source contributions.

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
• 7+ years of professional mobile engineering experience, with at least 3 years leading hybrid development on production applications at significant scale
• Expert-level Dart and Flutter knowledge, including the rendering pipeline, widget internals, platform channels, custom render objects, Impeller, and the Flutter engine
• Proven experience designing and governing cross-team Flutter architectures and migrating large, complex legacy mobile applications
• Deep expertise in testability, including widget, integration, golden-image, and end-to-end test strategies at programme scale
• Strong understanding of mobile release engineering, including automated pipelines, phased rollouts, feature flags, crash monitoring, and A/B testing in a Flutter context
• Track record of defining and driving adoption of engineering standards across multiple teams
• Prior staff, principal engineering, or equivalent IC leadership experience (strongly preferred)
• Native iOS (Swift) or Android (Kotlin) background, prior fintech or regulated-app experience, or contributions to open-source Flutter packages (advantageous)

• Design and document the Flutter architecture, including state management, layering, platform channels, design system integration, accessibility, and localisation
• Ensure consistent application of standards through reference implementations, RFCs, and design reviews
• Partner with fleet engineers, engineering managers, and the ADL team to sequence and de-risk the migration programme
• Provide technical governance on high-risk migration workstreams and maintain quality gates
• Lead the Flutter chapter, run design reviews, and maintain the internal Flutter handbook
• Write decision records and create a learning environment for Flutter engineers
• Represent the organisation externally through conference talks and open-source contributions
• Translate technical constraints into product implications and influence the roadmap with architectural insight
