About the Role
You will own the X-BAT flight-control system across all flight phases. You will develop simulations, verification strategies, and control-allocation approaches; resolve simulation-to-flight gaps; support flight tests; integrate controls with vehicle systems; and mentor engineers.
Requirements
- 10+ years of flight-controls or GNC experience on real flight vehicles
- Experience designing control allocation for over-actuated systems
- Knowledge of flight dynamics, 6DOF simulation, control theory, and nonlinear systems
- Experience with full verification and validation cycles
- Proficiency in C++, MATLAB/Simulink, or Python
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver flight-control systems across all phases of flight
- Develop control-allocation strategies for actuator redundancy, saturation, and degraded operations
- Lead high-fidelity 6DOF simulation development
- Define and execute verification strategies, analyses, testing, and HIL validation
- Diagnose and resolve simulation-to-flight mismatches
- Support flight-test operations and rapid iteration
- Integrate controls with propulsion, aerodynamics, actuation, sensors, state estimation, and autonomy
- Mentor engineers and set technical standards
