About the Role
You will design and analyze facility fire and life safety systems, prepare code-compliance documentation, and assess fire hazards. You will support construction and commissioning, review contractor designs, develop performance-based code solutions, and present technical findings.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline
- 2+ years of experience designing and constructing fire protection systems or providing fire protection consulting
- Willingness to work extended hours or weekends as needed
- Willingness to travel for project needs, potentially 50% or more for extended periods
Responsibilities
- Support engineering design, analysis, calculations, and specifications for fire and life safety systems
- Develop building and fire code compliance documents and fire life safety designs
- Perform hazardous-material analyses, including chemical classification, quantity analysis, and inventory management
- Support construction teams in developing field solutions
- Support commissioning during pre-test and authority-having-jurisdiction testing
- Conduct fire and life safety code reviews and analyses
- Prepare and present technical reports and presentations
- Review and comment on contractor shop-drawing design packages
- Develop alternate means and methods for performance-based code compliance
