About the Role
You will supervise fiber technicians throughout data-center installation projects. You will assign daily work, track progress, enforce safety practices, direct installation and repairs, oversee maintenance and splicing, verify signal levels, maintain records, report project status, and coach technicians on quality and documentation.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience supervising or leading fiber-optic technicians on commercial or data center installation projects
- 3+ years of direct data center experience installing and routing optical fiber in large-scale Tier 3 or 4 facilities
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- Complete required drug, alcohol, and background checks
- Lift up to 35 pounds unassisted
- Work at heights up to 50 feet with appropriate safety gear
- Work evenings and weekends as operational needs require
Responsibilities
- Supervise fiber technicians through data center installation projects
- Assign daily work, set priorities, and track progress
- Ensure a safe and productive work environment
- Develop inspection points and sensor checks
- Direct fiber-system troubleshooting, repair, replacement, and installation
- Review and approve replacement of faulty or aging fiber cables
- Organize and oversee scheduled maintenance
- Oversee fiber splicing and resolution of problem areas
- Track signal strength and escalate anomalies
- Maintain system records, as-builts, and design markups
- Report status to project leadership
- Coach technicians on methods, quality, and documentation
