About the Role
You will lead a research agenda on market-shaping mechanisms that align private incentives with social value and accelerate innovation for global public goods. You will design and evaluate pull mechanisms, develop policy proposals, publish research and policy outputs, engage external stakeholders, help mobilize funding, and supervise associate staff.
Requirements
- PhD in economics, completed or expected before the start date, with training in economic theory, industrial organization, market design, innovation economics, or a related subfield
- Interest in policy impact and ability to take policy projects from ideation through execution
- Analytical training in microeconomic theory, applied modeling, and quantitative analysis
- Ability to build simple, transparent models that translate economic ideas into policy recommendations
- Judgment in identifying high-impact policy and economic questions
- Oral and written communication skills
- Organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and contribute to new institutions
- For the Senior Fellow level: at least five years of relevant post-PhD experience and a distinguished body of work
- For the Senior Fellow level: prominence in market shaping or innovation policy and strong professional relationships
- For the Senior Fellow level: track record of generating external financial support for research programs
- For the Senior Fellow level: experience managing complex research and policy projects and supervising or mentoring junior colleagues
Responsibilities
- Design and lead a research agenda combining economic modeling, quantitative analysis, institutional knowledge, and practical policy design
- Help mobilize funding for market-shaping and innovation-policy work
- Represent the Market Shaping Accelerator through speaking engagements, blogging, and convenings
- Publish reports, papers, policy briefs, and timely commentary
- Provide analytical support to colleagues' research
- Supervise and mentor associate staff
