About the Role
You will support daily laboratory safety operations by managing chemical and hazardous-waste activities, maintaining inventory and compliance records, performing inspections, coordinating safety programs, and preparing the laboratory for regulatory and internal inspections.
Requirements
- Associate degree, technical certification, bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience in EHS, chemistry, environmental science, occupational health, industrial technology, or a related field
- 1–2 years of experience in laboratory operations, hazardous waste, chemical management, industrial EHS, or a related environment
- Familiarity with laboratory chemical handling, hazard compatibility, and hazardous-waste management
- Organizational and record-maintenance skills
- Ability to safely move containers and work in an active laboratory
- Ability to work independently and coordinate with scientists, engineers, vendors, and regulators
Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, label, inventory, and store chemicals and compressed gases
- Maintain chemical inventory, SDS, hazard-classification, and storage records
- Monitor and reorder EHS supplies
- Collect, package, stage, and document hazardous waste
- Maintain waste accumulation areas
- Coordinate waste pickups and disposal documentation
- Perform safety inspections and compliance audits
- Inspect safety equipment and emergency supplies
- Support gas detector testing, calibration, records, and training
- Coordinate EHS onboarding, safety training, and respirator programs
- Support regulatory and internal inspections
- Collect environmental samples and coordinate testing
- Maintain laboratory housekeeping and identify safety issues
