About the Role

You will lead a 0-to-1 effort to build the control layer for multi-cloud cell infrastructure. You will set technical direction, grow the engineering organization, establish reliability and operational practices, improve cost visibility, and enable other engineers to deploy on the platform without needing to understand its internal complexity.

Requirements

  • Experience designing, building, and operating distributed systems in production using cell-based architecture.
  • Experience owning highly reliable systems, including on-call, incident management, and site reliability engineering practices.
  • Knowledge of distributed systems fundamentals, including consistency models, partitioning, sharding, failure modes, and multi-region or multi-cloud tradeoffs.
  • Experience leading engineering teams in a distributed environment.
  • Ability to hire, support, and develop engineers.
  • Experience building platform capabilities or developer tools used by other engineering teams.
  • Experience working in ambiguity and defining direction for early-stage builds.
  • Cross-functional communication skills for working with VP-level and CTO-level stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and delivery of multi-cloud cell placement and orchestration systems.
  • Build and grow the engineering team responsible for cell infrastructure.
  • Drive infrastructure cost visibility and optimization with finance and platform teams.
  • Own the reliability model, including on-call practices, incident response, and postmortem follow-through.
  • Partner with Git infrastructure, Artifact Registry, Duo Agent Platform, and CI/CD teams on scaling and deployment needs.
  • Define and evolve architecture for cross-cloud routing, data residency, and infrastructure portability.
  • Develop platform capabilities and developer tooling for deployment on cell infrastructure.
  • Represent the team in cross-functional planning with senior engineering stakeholders.
