About the Role
You will design and develop hydraulic fluid systems for autonomous aircraft launch and recovery systems. You will take designs from concept through CAD, tolerance analysis, material selection, drawing release, prototyping, testing, and production. You will perform structural calculations and FEA, support ground and flight testing, collaborate across disciplines, and improve engineering processes and configuration management.
Requirements
- B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
- 2+ years of mechanical or mechanism design experience focused on fluid systems
- Strong CAD skills
- Kinematic analysis and optimization
- Structural analysis using hand calculations and finite element methods
- FEA analysis including modal, nonlinear, linear, buckling, and fatigue analysis
- GD&T and tolerance stack-ups for mechanical systems
- Materials selection including alloys, heat treatments, allowables, and finishes
- Ability to obtain an S//SAR level security clearance
Responsibilities
- Design hydraulic fluid systems for autonomous aircraft launch and recovery systems
- Support design from concept through CAD, tolerance analysis, material selection, and drawing release
- Perform structural calculations and preliminary FEA
- Prototype, test, and iterate mechanism designs for functionality and reliability
- Collaborate with electrical, avionics, flight controls, manufacturing, and test teams
- Support pre-production builds, prototype integration, and ground and flight testing
- Participate in hydraulic-system design reviews and technical decision-making
- Improve design processes, configuration management, and team workflows
