About the Role

Spaceium is seeking an Electrical Intern to work with its electrical engineering team on spacecraft hardware. The role contributes to the design, testing, documentation, and integration of electrical and electronic systems for space missions.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with basic electronics, circuit analysis, and lab instrumentation.
  • Exposure to at least one programming language: Python, C, or C++.
  • Eagerness to learn and work in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Extended hours and weekend work may be required to support critical project and mission milestones.
  • Physical presence at the Ottawa facility is required.
  • Hands-on experience with personal or academic electronics projects is preferred.
  • Familiarity with schematic capture and PCB layout tools such as Altium or KiCad is preferred.
  • Experience with microcontrollers, sensors, or embedded systems is preferred.
  • Comfort with oscilloscopes, multimeters, and lab test equipment is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong first-principles thinking, risk assessment, and decision-making with limited data.
  • Experience in a nimble technical engineering role and an entrepreneurial approach are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support schematic capture and PCB layout for spacecraft avionics.
  • Assist with harness design, wiring, and integration.
  • Help bring up, test, and debug electronic boards and subsystems.
  • Support electrical testing including power, signal integrity, and functional tests.
  • Contribute to documentation, test reports, and design reviews.
  • Assist with lab setup, instrumentation, and test equipment.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, software, and systems engineers.
