About the Role
As Director MGA and Programs Claims, you will oversee commercial Property and Casualty claim handling related to SiriusPoint Programs/MGAs, whether in-house or through TPAs. You will provide authority to settle and reserve claims above retentions, and audit and monitor claim handling. You will also assist in performing initial and annual due diligence of claim handling entities, and validate that Programs/MGAs and their claim handling teams or TPAs stay compliant with insurance/reinsurance contract terms, claim handling guidelines, and internal policies and procedures. You will report to the Head of North America MGA and Programs Claims.
Requirements
- Significant claims adjusting or leadership experience (at least 10-15 years) within Casualty, Property, and specialty lines (Professional Lines) preferred
- Commitment to further training and knowledge gathering through market seminars, training courses and professional networks
- Ability to make good decisions within accepted claims turnaround practice
- Ability to analyze claims data and use data to inform strategic decisions at individual claim and portfolio level
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to represent the company effectively and professionally within the market
- Ability to work to tight deadlines
- Team player with ability to mentor and assist in development of employees
- B.A./B.S. or equivalent University degree; additional insurance-related certificates and credentials preferred but not required
- Strong IT skills, including knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of products
Responsibilities
- Oversee claim handling entities associated with Programs/MGAs to ensure authority is not breached, claims reporting is accurate and timely, coverage is appropriate, and quality auditing is in place
- Work with Program Managers to on-board, design and implement procedures and manage day-to-day technical and operational aspects of US P&C Program/MGA business
- Ensure compliance with claims handling process for U.S. claim handling entities
- Evaluate reserves on specific claims and monitor adequacy of reserves at portfolio and individual claim level
- Establish and maintain claims reports including trend analysis, claim lifecycle improvement and indemnity containment measures
- Interpret contract coverage upon referral from the Program/MGA to determine liability and extent of participation in claims
- Instruct and manage independent experts when required
- Perform claims work according to Company policies and procedures and within assigned Claims Authority
- Ensure claims escalation authorities are adhered to and claims are accurately and efficiently triaged and reported
- Maintain cooperation and regular interaction with other functions including Senior Management, Compliance, Underwriters and the Actuarial team
- Establish, develop and maintain relationships with brokers, ceding companies, lawyers and loss adjusters
- Monitor risk arising from claims programs against agreed risk appetite and escalate risk events or control failures
- Travel for MGA and Programs Claims audits, Claims Team meetings, or other industry events as requested
