About the Role
You own the reliability, performance, security, and resilience of production databases. You administer PostgreSQL, MySQL, Aurora, RDS, and MongoDB; design backup and recovery strategies; optimize queries and schemas; support ORM and GraphQL data access; implement security controls; automate database operations; and support incident response and root-cause analysis.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience as a DBA, Database Engineer, or Database Administrator
- Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and MySQL
- Experience with AWS Aurora and RDS
- Experience managing MongoDB in production
- Understanding of database architecture, replication, backups, recovery, and high availability
- Strong SQL skills and experience with query and performance optimization
- Experience with ORM frameworks and their impact on database performance
- Familiarity with GraphQL and modern application data-access patterns
- Understanding of AWS, Linux, networking, and cloud infrastructure
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Experience with database monitoring and observability tools
- Experience with Terraform or Infrastructure as Code is an advantage
- Familiarity with Kubernetes and containerized workloads is an advantage
- Experience with database security, auditing, and compliance is an advantage
- Exposure to blockchain, Web3, fintech, or digital asset infrastructure is an advantage
Responsibilities
- Own the availability, performance, reliability, and security of production databases
- Administer and optimize PostgreSQL, MySQL, Aurora, RDS, and MongoDB environments
- Design and maintain backup, recovery, replication, and high-availability strategies
- Monitor database health, capacity, performance, and resource utilization
- Troubleshoot database performance and production issues
- Optimize queries, indexes, schemas, connections, and database configurations
- Work with Engineering teams on ORMs, database design, migrations, and query optimization
- Support applications using GraphQL and ensure efficient and secure data access patterns
- Implement and maintain database security controls
- Participate in disaster recovery planning, testing, and RTO/RPO initiatives
- Automate database operations, monitoring, provisioning, and routine maintenance
- Support incident response and root-cause analysis for database-related incidents
