About the Role
You will lead applied data scientists supporting autonomy engineering. You will set priorities and roadmaps, review technical proposals for statistical rigour, manage delivery trade-offs, hire and develop staff, and build stakeholder relationships. You will improve tooling and automation to scale evaluation and insight generation.
Requirements
- 3+ years managing a team of 5+ individual contributors
- Experience growing and maintaining high-performing teams
- Data science foundation including causal inference methods
- Experience translating stakeholder and customer needs into team priorities
- Experience setting technical direction and reviewing senior-engineer designs
- Roadmap planning and delivery management experience
- Experience working asynchronously across time zones
- Experience scaling an applied or embedded data science function
- Familiarity with simulation, offline evaluation, or ML measurement
- Machine learning experience

Responsibilities
- Set priorities with stakeholders and maintain 3-, 6-, and 12-month roadmaps
- Review technical proposals and designs for statistical rigour and evaluation fidelity
- Monitor delivery status, surface schedule risks, and manage customer trade-offs
- Hire and onboard data scientists
- Invest in tooling and automation to scale the function
- Guide career development and progression pathways
